In the summer of 2016 songwriter & multi-instrumentalist Will Gonzalez started writing a handful of songs about self-skepticism & optimism. Soon after, Will joined forces with producer/songwriter & multi-instrumentalist, Steven Martinez to record and produce them using techniques he acquired through past recordings he did with Will & drummer Daniel Jurado’s previous band, Fine Minds, as well as Stevens previous band, The Ambient Light (who Jurado also drummed for). Will, Daniel and Steven met years ago through playing shows with their old bands throughout Los Angeles and The San Gabriel Valley. Their new musical project called Pure Mids is an alternative/new gaze rock sound with a splash of neo-psychedelia. All three members are from Southern California.
Pure Mids first support came by the worlds most listened to internet radio station in the world,
idobi Network, where they premiered the music video for These Days and playing the song on idobi Anthm in September of 2017. By October, fans voted the band Local Artist of the Month for the deli Magazine L.A. with These Days taking the top vote. Things sped up a bit that same month, when Spotify added new single, Maybe It’s Alright to both their Fresh Finds + Six Strings playlists. Since then, Pure Mids has gained write-ups and features in Austin Town Hall, All Things Go, PlanetPop, Impose Magazine, The Revue, while having songs added to indie generated playlists from Indie Mania – Topsify Deutschland to and NEW MUSIC 2017: Indie Rock/Alternative Rock. The eight-song debut album, titled Optimistic-ism released on 1.26.2018 off the Dreamtime Palace imprint, which was premiered on NYC’s The Wild Honey Pie.
