San Gabriel Valley, Cali based alternative-psychedelic rock, dream pop band, The Ambient Light consists of Steven Martinez (guitarist-vocalist), Christopher Alvarez (guitarist-vocalist), Steve Lizarraga (bassist), Daniel Jurado (drummer) and Michelle Carrasco (keyboard/synth).
In the Summer of 2015, Los Angeles music site Buzzbands.la premiered the band’s single, “Golem”. Displaying an immediate change in sound from their previous release, the track featured washed-out vocal melodies, dynamic drums fills, and dreamy transitions with psychedelic undertones. Meld in the worlds of psychedelic rock, dream pop and shoegaze into 12 tracks, the band released their full length album, “I Want to Exist” on October 27th of 2015.
MTV chose a few songs off the album to be placed in various shows throughout 2015, which allowed band discovery to naturally grow across the nation. MTV’s series, Awkward will also be placing another song in their upcoming season 6, this Spring of 2016.
